GIVING BACK TO ROTARY.gif

How Rotary can put themselves at the Heart of the Nation in the fight against Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

There are 3 very simple ways that you can support the community in the fight against Sudden Cardiac Arrest:

1. Become a Heart of the Nation Champion and help us locate existing AEDs in the community;

2. Download the Heart of the Nation app and become a Registered Alerter and Responder;

3. Purchase an AED as a standalone device, or as part of our Heart of the Nation Communities packages, and you can help equip the community with the skills and tools they require to increase somebody's chance of surviving a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Every item purchased will help your local Rotary Club in their efforts to give back to your community!

1. Become Heart of the Nation Champions - Locate Existing AEDs in the Community and Register them to the Heart of the Nation Network

Step 1 in strengthening the community's Chain of Survival is to ensure that you know the current location of any existing AEDs, ensure that they are VISIBLE (well signed) so that others can find them when needed, and that they are included in technology that can connect the community TO the AED as well as EACH OTHER when sudden cardiac arrest occurs.  Locating existing AEDs in the community and asking the owner of the AED to sign up to the Heart of the Nation network does exactly that!

When you become a Heart of the Nation Champion, you will receive a Champion Code to give the AED owners, so that then they register, they can use YOUR code to register with.  Every month, the Champion with the most AED registrations to the Heart of the Nation network using THEIR code, will win a $100 Bunnings Gift Card, plus a luxury accommodation discount voucher.  As well as our Champion winning, the FIRST THREE AED owners that register their AED using a Champion Code each month will also WIN a luxury accommodation discount voucher.  Even better still, the Champion with the most registrations to the Heart of the Nation network using THEIR CODE, by December 31, 2022 will WIN an iPad Pro!  Click here to read full terms and conditions, and to sign up to the program.

2. Download the Heart of the Nation AED Locator and Bystander Response App and Sign Up to Become Alerters and Responders.

Step 2 in strengthening your community's Chain of Survival is to download the Heart of the Nation app - it helps you located the nearest AED that is registered to the Heart of the Nation network PLUS it will allow the user to call 000 and send for help from nearby Registered Responders at the same time.

Did you know that you DON'T have to be formally trained or qualified in CPR or how to use an AED in order to use either to save a life?  Any attempt at resuscitation is better than no attempt.  And if you and other members of your community sign up to become Registered Responders, then any time someone in your community uses the Heart of the Nation app to alert a cardiac arrest incident, then, as well as calling 000 from within the app, it also notifies nearby Registered Responders at the same time!  Thereby connecting them to the location of their nearest AED, as well as to the address of the cardiac arrest event.

Time is of the essence when it comes to cardiac arrest, and rapid response from nearby willing responders will only help to strengthen the Chain of Survival while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.  The Heart of the Nation app is available on Google Play for Android, and on the App Store for iOS users.  Download and sign up to become a Responder today!

3. Help us build Heart of the Nation Communities right around Australia.  Could our community raise $2,990 to help save a life?
