How Rotary can put themselves at the Heart of the Nation in the fight against sudden cardiac arrest.

1. Become a Great Aussie AED Hunter  - Locate Existing AEDs in the Community and Register them to the Heart of the Nation Network

Step 1 in enhancing the Chain of Survival involves making Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) VISIBLE ACCESSIBLE and ACTIONABLE within the community, encouraging AED owners to join the Heart of the Nation network.

This connection fosters rapid response during sudden cardiac arrests by linking people to both the necessary technology and each other.

By participating as a Great Aussie AED Hunter, you'll receive a unique Hunter Code to share with AED owners, encouraging their network registration. Monthly, the participant registering the most AEDs wins a $100 Bunnings Gift Card.

The top Hunter by December 31, 2024, will win an iPad Pro. For full details and to join, click here.

2. Download the Heart of the Nation AED Locator and Bystander Response App and Sign Up to Become Alerters and Responders.

Step 2 in strengthening your community's Chain of Survival is to download the Heart of the Nation app - it helps you located the nearest AED that is registered to the Heart of the Nation network PLUS it will allow the user to call 000 and send for help from nearby Registered Responders at the same time.

Did you know that you DON'T have to be formally trained or qualified in CPR or how to use an AED in order to use either to save a life?  Any attempt at resuscitation is better than no attempt.  And if you and other members of your community sign up to become Registered Responders, then any time someone in your community uses the Heart of the Nation app to alert a cardiac arrest incident, then, as well as calling 000 from within the app, it also notifies nearby Registered Responders at the same time!  Thereby connecting them to the location of their nearest AED, as well as to the address of the cardiac arrest event.

Time is of the essence when it comes to cardiac arrest, and rapid response from nearby willing responders will only help to strengthen the Chain of Survival while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.  The Heart of the Nation app is available on Google Play for Android, and on the App Store for iOS users.  Download and sign up to become a Responder today!

3. Help us build Heart of the Nation Communities right around Australia.  Could our community raise $2,959 to save a life?
